On the 11th of November, we visited CLIP, the Oporto International school.
We went by bus. We left our school at 8:20 and arrived at 9:30.
The school is huge. When we got there we thought: “This seems a shopping centre, because it’s huge.”
We were welcomed and, after a brief presentation of the people who received us, we were divided into groups of 5, so that it would be easier to visit the school. Some students of CLIP were guiding us around the school.
All the students wear uniforms and the classes are all spoken in English. The way they teach is different from ours. The students have to stay in the school from 8:30 till 16:00.
You can attend this school from kindergarten (4 years old) till your 12th form. The exams they do come from England and they are sent back to England to be corrected.
After the guided visits, we went to a huge room, where many of their students joined us and the Director of the school spoke to us, and then we saw some students representing a play. Afterwards, a teacher was playing the piano while everybody was singing the song “When the saints go marching in” among others.
In the end, we talked with some teachers and students about their daily routine and the way the school works and we also compared our school system to theirs.
Then we went to Norteshopping to have lunch and we came back to school at 15:00.

On the 11th November I and my class went to Oporto to visit a very special school called “CLIP”. I say it is special because it is very different from my school and from other portuguese public schools.
Firstly, students have to wear uniforms and they have to obey to strict rules, such as not being able to get out of school whenever they feel like doing it. In fact, they can only leave school at 4 p.m., even if their lessons finish earlier than that.
Secondly, every lesson is taught in English, that is, maths lessons, science lessons, history lessons all in English. I think it is very interesting but it must require a really hard work.
Moreover, it is a very expensive school. Only wealthy people can attend that school.
In short, I liked all the school’s facilities and enjoyed talking to the students and the teachers. I would like to attend a school like this one, although I know my parents can’t afford it. Therefore, the least I can do is to thank my english teacher for taking me to this school and making me dream about it.

However, I must say, I’m very happy at my school.

On the last 11th November we and our class went to CLIP. It is an international school where students do everything in English: learn the different subjects, talk to the teachers and do exercises.
Before the visit our teacher talked a little about this school. We thought it very strange and difficult to learn everything in English, but we were very curious.
When we arrived at CLIP and began to talk to “Clippers” we changed our opinion: after all learning everything in English wasn’t so difficult.
During the morning we visited the school, talked to the students and discussed the differences between private and public schools. After that, we had lunch in Norteshopping. In the afternoon we came back to our school and we had a class.
The part we liked the most was when we talked to the other students, because we learned a lot about private schools and their students. The part we didn’t like was when we returned to school to have a lesson.
