Same Picture, Different Stories

Story 1:

July Sousa had an accident when she was 12 and until now she hasn´t had money to pay for an operation. However, an association will pay for that.

In 2008, this girl had an accident, a car crash. After Christmas Eve, she and her parents went home and her parents had drunk a lot, they crashed with another car. Her parents died, and she´s still alive but she has never been the same girl. She lives in an association because her family didn´t want to take care of her.

Despite suffering, the other thing that marked her life, that is also important, was the fact that she lost her nose.

She has been this way for four years, because she doesn´t have money to pay for an operation.

Finally, after a lot of years of suffering, an association offered to pay for an operation to reconstruct her nose.

Her life will certainly change.

Story 2:

Hindi Salumas is a victim of religious persecution, more specifically of the Hindu religion.

Everything started when Hindi Salumas wanted to do a plastic surgery to the nose. However, her dad forbade her to do it due to the fact that their religion doesn’t permit it.

Last Friday, Hindi made the operation and the worst was about to come.

Hindi’s father discovered what happened with her and he cut her nose with a sickle.

This girl went to the hospital but … unfortunately no one could solve her problem.

Nowadays, this young girl is a victim of discrimination in her community. This case can show us how religion can bring serious consequences!

She fell on the floor and he decided that he needed more and cut off her nose.
She passed out and he started cooking the nose and ears and ate them. “It was a wonderful meal” he said.
A few hours later the police appeared because a neighbour saw it all.
Right now the stepfather is in jail and Naviana is safe with her mother.
